'Top Chef' New Orleans Season 11 Episode 8: Preview, TV Info, & More

Last week the producers of “Top Chef’ tried to inject some personality and attitude by inviting Kermit Ruffins, legendary New Orleans Jazz performer, to be that week’s guest judge. Kermit’s favorite foods were apart of the Quickfire Challenge, and he invited the chefs to watch him play live at a bar. All that episode proved is Kermit’s got more personality in his trumpet than all of cheftestants combined.

I still love “Top Chef”, but ask yourself who is the favorite chef of this season. Go ahead, and think about that for a bit. Can you even name more than two of them? It has been one of those seasons. The producers continue to support the bland cast by bringing in personalities again tonight on an all new episode of “Top Chef”. First we have a guest appearance by Dr. John, famous New Orleans character and musician, and then later the chefs are asked to butcher a 300 lb. pig. Let’s check out the official Bravo synopsis of tonight’s episode.

After a Quickfire Challenge where the cheftestants are tasked with making their own hot sauce for legendary musician Dr. John, the focus turns to the pig, the whole pig and nothing but the pig, as the chefs butcher and cook up a 300-pound hog.

Not sure what medical field Dr. John got his degree in, but one could assume it wasn’t nutrition. Dr. John looks like he’s about to fall apart at any moment. This is not an episode for members of PETA or people who own clothing with their pets picture on it. From one of the previews posted on BravoTV.com we can see that butchering a 300 lb. pig can get pretty personal.

If working together to break down a mammoth pig isn’t going to cause enough drama, there seems to be a disagreement over the Elimination Challenge’s fire. Local New Orleans chef Justin spends most of his prep time getting the fire pit ready for cooking, and he doesn’t react well when other chefs take advantage of his hard work in building the fire.

Tonight’s porcine filled episode kicks off tonight at 10pm, and he’s how you can be apart of all the action.
