BBC America posted the new trailer for the “Doctor Who” Christmas event, titled “The Time of the Doctor”. This new special has big shoes to fill after the 50th Anniversary celebration earlier in the year. BBC America is counting on the hype surrounding Matt Smith’s final episode as the Doctor to bring viewers in. Smith portrayed the twelfth incarnation of the Doctor, and he’ll hand off the reigns to actor Peter Capaldi in the episode.
Capaldi is best known from the BBC show “The Thick of It”, where he played the all powerful politician Malcolm Tucker. The show’s overall tone won’t change with Capaldi on board, but expect a darker take on the Doctor than Smith’s version. We still have no idea how the hand off will go, but we won’t have to wait much longer to find out.
Here’s the trailer for “The Time of the Doctor”, coming to BBC America this Christmas. Check out a sneak peak of the Dalek action in store for the holiday season.
