Christmas comes early this year for fans of NBC’s “Grimm” with two all new episodes of the fantasy detective series on tap tonight. The two episodes couldn’t be more different tonight with one centered on the hunt for an alligator Wesen while the other involves the hunt for the evil Santa Claus known as Krampus. The one thing the Christmas holiday season was missing is an evil murdering Santa figure, but thankfully “Grimm” has our backs. Here’s the brief description from NBC about tonight’s episodes.
Don’t miss two back-to-back episodes of Grimm! First, the detectives track a vicious alligator Wesen through the sewers of Portland. Then, Nick battles the legendary Krampus.
If Nick is hunting for the alligator Wesen in Portland during the first episode, titled “Cold Blooded”, he needs to be sure not to mistake the droves of hipsters in that city for Wesens. Just because they have giant spacers in their ears and want to discuss The Decemberists latest album doesn’t automatically make them Wesen. At least the Portland sewer system benefits from all the composting done in the area.
The second episode, titled “The Twelve Days of Krampus”, is where “Grimm” celebrates the holiday season. Here’s the Wikipedia entry on Krampus for some background on this legend.
Krampus is a beast-like creature from the folklore of Alpine countries thought to punish children during the Yule season who had misbehaved, in contrast with Saint Nicholas, who rewards well-behaved ones with gifts. Krampus is said to capture particularly naughty children in his sack and carry them away to his lair.
Krampus is Santa’s bizarro brother, and tonight’s version has him killing “naughty” people off his list. The promo from NBC gives a quick glimpse of both episodes. Tonight’s holiday episode of “Grimm” isn’t for kids, unless parents are looking to destroy their young children’s view of the Christmas holiday.
“Grimm” goes all out for the holiday season tonight on NBC. Tonight’s show is the perfect thing for a cold Friday the 13th night.
