Who Won 'The Voice' Season 5?

Last night NBC’s “The Voice awarded the title of Season 5 Champion. The final three contestants were Tessanne Chin, Will Champlin, and Jacquie Lee. Here’s the announcement from Carson Daly on the show’s winner.

Congratulations to Tessanne Chin for winning the title and a brand new Kia. Jacquie Lee was the runner up in second place, and Will Champlin filled out the ranking in third place. Tessanne’s talent was too much for the younger Lee and the awkward Champlin to overcome. The show wasted no time in rolling out Tessanne’s new single, much in the way “American Idol” used to end their finale’s with the winner’s first song. Tessanne’s performance of her single, titled “Tumbling Down”, is below. Here’s a bit of background on the song from NBC.

Tessanne closed the show by debuting “Tumbling Down,” a song written specifically for the new champion by OneRepublic founder Ryan Tedder, “The Voice’s” in-house songwriter-producer.

“The Voice” returns to NBC for Season 6 on February 24th, 2014, one day after the Winter Olympics end. This Spring Usher and Shakira are back as judges, replacing Christina Aguilera and CeeLo Green. Last Spring saw a ratings dip when the judges were swapped out, but NBC is hoping the Olympic hangover will give them a leg up this time.
