An emotional journey back to Turkey and Iran continuous tonight on Bravo’s “Shahs of Sunset”. Last week the group visited the Blue Mosque and the Hagia Sophia before Asa reunited with her family still in Iran. Asa and other members of the group can’t go back to Iran because they left the country as political refugees. While they can’t go to Iran, her Iranian relatives are free to travel to Turkey. Asa, along with her Mom and Brother, hugged relatives for the first time in over twenty years.
In many ways this trip hasn’t been the usual “Shahs of Sunset” fare. The over the top gold and fashion fell to the wayside. There were still the ridiculous moments, but they were balanced with genuine emotional story lines. That trend continues in “Return to the Homeland Part 2″ with an episode full of laughs and tears. Here’s the Bravo synopsis of tonight’s episode.
The group plans a yachting excursion on the Mediterranean, and GG and Reza must go to unusual lengths to solve their seasickness. Spurred on by her family reunion, Asa organizes a clandestine trip to the Iranian border for herself, her mother, and Reza, who are forbidden to return to the Homeland.
Tonight’s episode has something for everyone. If you are a viewer who likes the over the top “Shahs” then get excited for the group’s boat trip. The weather starts getting rough, which causes Reza and GG to get severely seasick. The only way they can deal with the issue is by taking seasickness medicine that’s inserted anally. That’s a recipe for TV gold.
And if you enjoyed the emotional connection the group had last week, there’s the group’s trip to the border between Turkey and Iran. Since most of them can never go back to Iran this is the closest they will ever get to their relatives and history. It’s another personal moment from the trip. It ends up getting too emotional for Asa and Reza being that close to their homeland.
The Turkey trip wraps up tonight on “Shahs of Sunset”.
