The first few seasons of Bravo’s “Flipping Out” played up the differences between interior designer Jeff Lewis and his business partner Ryan. Jeff was the neurotic OCD micro manager, while Ryan was the relaxed go with the flow type. It was Bravo’s Odd Couple take on interior design. The producers eventually realized the real energy and comedy in the show was coming from Jeff’s direction. Ryan was phased out entirely from the show, and the people surrounding Jeff came to the forefront.
Jenni, Jeff’s long suffering assistant, and Zoila, his spunky maid, were straight out of sitcom heaven. The show transformed from there, and is one of the most consistent show’s Bravo airs. Tonight’s season 7 premiere features more classic Jeff Lewis bits.
Here’s the Bravo description of tonight’s episode, titled “When the Water Breaks”.
The season premiere finds Jeff comfortably settled in his new home, Gramercy, with a slate of high-profile clients, including “CSI” actor George Eads and his wife, Monika, who are undertaking a major remodel of their Hollywood Hills home. Meanwhile, we learn that Jenni is seven months pregnant, forcing Jeff to make plans for her upcoming maternity leave.
One of Jeff’s strengths is yelling at his staff. That’s why the show has kept the bizarre Andrew around. Andrew does his job tonight by being insulting on his visit to the company Jeff is working with on his new product line. Cue Jeff and his amazing passive aggressive powers.
Good thing loyal Jenni is still around to help Jeff. Except she’s about to give birth and take a leave from the office. What will Jeff do without her? In case you thought her upcoming child would calm Jenni down, it hasn’t. Her water actually broke during filming. Here’s the clip.
Was that another “Flipping Out” prank or real? Tune in tonight to find out.
