After months of hearing about casting and rumored plot lines, the official synopsis and logo for the upcoming Batman prequel series Gotham has been revealed. FOX released the information that was picked up by ComingSoon.net and spread throughout the internet like the awesome wildfire it is.
Here’s a look at an excerpt from the lengthy series synopsis that has been released by FOX:
“Gotham” is an origin story of the great DC Comics super villains and vigilantes, revealing an entirely new chapter that has never been told. From executive producer/writer Bruno Heller (ìThe Mentalist,î ìRomeî), “Gotham” follows one cop’s rise through a dangerously corrupt city teetering on the edge of evil and chronicles the birth of one of the most popular super heroes of our time.”
The synopsis goes on to explain things about the characters, the setting and the overall tone of the show. Spoiler alert: it’s gonna be dark.
Gotham has already signed the likes of Ben McKenzie, Donal Louge and Jada Pinkett Smith to play major series regular characters.
With the success of the DC show Arrow on the CW, there is hope that Gotham will catch on and overthrow whatever hold Marvel has on the series television game with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. which is struggling badly.
Gotham will premiere this fall on FOX.
