Lost co-creator says series could get rebooted in the future

Have we really seen the last of Lost? That’s a question we’ve all been asking ourselves since the iconic series went off the air a few years ago and we got a cryptic answer the other night during a cast reunion. Series co-creator Damon Lindelof told E! that he could see more Lost coming int he future — it just won’t come from J.J. Abrams or himself.

Per E! Online:

“I think there will be more Lost,” Lindelof tells me. “But I don’t think it’s gonna come from us. My guess is that some other creative team will come in and take their creative spin on this content, which is really exciting.”

Before we could get too excited about Lost returning, Lindelof clarified again that the series as we know it is no more and whatever comes next — if anything at all — will be totally new and different.

“I think we told our story, you know,” Lindelof explains. “We put so much energy into ending it, that to put energy into kickstarting it again, you know…The show, I felt like it had a very successful life. Maybe it lived a little too long, but I never felt like it didn’t live long enough. So I feel like there will be more, but it won’t be made by us.”

It’s possible that the show could get rebooted, as we live in a world where entertainment is a recycled good. From prequels and spinoffs and even prequels that are spinoffs, hit shows resurface time and tme again and it’s possible that Lost could be once again found in such a form.

It’s not likely, but then again we thought Star Wars Episode III would be the final film in 2005 and Abrams has moved from Lost to reviving one of the most iconic film franchises in history.
