The Batman universe is about to hit the small screen again, but this time the little characters are getting a big stage. While we’ve seen the Caped Crusader get his own show multiple times in the past, Gotham will focus on a world pre-Batman and what the characters that were already existing in that world were up to.
Jim Gordon, Batman’s loyal and trustworthy detective friend, is the main character of the show and will be played by Ben McKenzie. Fans waiting for their first official look at the latest incarnation of Jim Gordon were gifted with that very thing this week as Fox released the first photo of McKemzie as Gordon on Thursday.
In case you need a teaser or a refresher on the series, here’s an official synopsis of Gotham:
“Gotham” is an origin story of the great DC Comics super villains and vigilantes, revealing an entirely new chapter that has never been told. From executive producer/writer Bruno Heller (“The Mentalist,” “Rome”), “Gotham” follows one cop’s rise through a dangerously corrupt city teetering on the edge of evil and chronicles the birth of one of the most popular super heroes of our time.
Gotham is currently shooting it’s first season which will premiere on Fox this upcoming fall.
