David Duchovny may be wrapping things up on Californication but he’s already found work to fall back on. With one final season of his Showtime series left to air, NBC has picked up an untitled 1960s cop drama that will see the former X-Files star return to basic cable.
Following the end of his Showtime dark comedy series Californication, David Duchovny is reuniting with former Showtime topper Bob Greenblatt for Aquarius, a gritty 1960s cop drama at NBC about a cop who goes undercover to track Charles Manson and the Manson Family before their infamous murder spree.
It’s been over a decade since Duchovny last stared on a network series as The X-Files, but this new series will bring him back on a new network. X-Files aired on Fox while this series will air on NBC but the subject matter is roughly in the same ballpark.
While this untitled series won’t deal with supernatural, it will return Duchovny to an FBI drama as the subject matter of the series will focus on an undercover operation to track Charles Manson, the famed serial killer.
It’s a bit of a departure for Duchovny but he’s hardly gone wrong in his career and is one of the most watchable stars on television.
