Last year, well known wire-walker Nik Wallenda took televisions across the country hostage when he delivered a live crossing of the Grand Canyon. Ten million plus households tuned in and Wallenda vowed to return with an even more impressive walk.
Return he has, but this time he’ll be tight roping in one of the countries most notoriously windy places – Chicago.
Discovery made the announcement on Thursday morning.
“I am excited about Discovery’s Upfront programming slate with even bigger live events, including our follow up to Skywire Live,” said Eileen O’Neill, Group President, Discovery Networks. “The past year has been filled with history making live events, landmark original programming, scripted programs, compelling characters and amazing storytelling. Our next year will be epic.”
In addition to capturing viewers on televisions, Wallenda took social media website Twitter by storm as he topped the world trending topic list.
Wallenda comes from a history of wire-walkers and has made himself famous for traversing over notoriously dangerous areas, void of any safety harnesses.
It’s not known what part of Chicago’s skyline Wallenda will walk, though I’m sure the television special will be as popular – if not more – this time around.
