Will Graham has spent most of the second season on NBC’s Hannibal trying to convince his colleagues at the FBI to take a deeper look at Hannibal Lector as the actual Chesapeake Ripper. Will, in jail charged for murder, isn’t the best source for the FBI, but recent developments have changed the way Jack Crawford and the rest of the FBI feel towards Will.
First there was the ear sent to Will during his trial, and then the murder of the presiding judge. Those killings, while different from the Ripper, were enough to place doubt in Jack about Will’s guilt. Then there’s the case of Dr. Beverly Katz. Dr. Katz was the head of fiber analysis who ended up being carved into slices after she got caught snooping around Hannibal’s secret basement of horrors. She was only there because of Will’s insistence that Hannibal is the Ripper.
In tonight’s all new episode, titled Futamono, Will’s pleas to Jack are finally heard. While Jack isn’t ready to formally investigate Hannibal, he’s more inclined to believe the ramblings of Will. Will’s profile of Hannibal theorizes that he’s eating his victims, and tonight’s episode features a classy dinner party thrown by Lector. Jack decides to stop by the party to get some “take out” food to bring back to the lab.
