While the summer movie season is the holy grail of comic book movies, the San Diego Comic-Con is the mecca. Legions of fanboys and fangirls flock to San Diego each year to take in the most intense weekend a comic book or television fan can take in.
It’s not only a mecca for fans but for actors, filmmakers and presenters as well. It’s a massive gathering where it’s okay to geek out and get goofy which means it’s the perfect setting for late night host Conan O’Brien to take his TBS show this summer. According to Deadline, that’s exactly what he’s planning on doing.
The TBS late night host plans to broadcast his show from July 8 – 12, 2015 when the studios, the networks and hundreds of thousands of the geekest geeks in geekdom all head to San Diego. In the first time a late night show has broadcast from Comic-Con, CONAN will take over the downtown Spreckels Theater.
It’s the first time that a talk show has taken his late night show to Comic-Con, but it seems fitting that Conan would be the first one. Unlike other late night hosts, Conan got his start with a fanboy topic as he was one of the original writers on The Simpsons and has penned some memorable vintage episodes.
Taking his show to Comic-Con is a new thing, but it could very well become a tradition that others soon copy.
