Wrestling icon the Ultimate Warrior died suddenly Tuesday from an apparent heart attack. Making the loss even more tragic is the Warrior’s recent return last weekend to the WWE for his Hall of Fame induction ceremony. The Warrior, real name James Hellwig, even made a special appearance on Monday Night Raw to thank the fans for their loyalty. His death is sadly all too common in the world of professional wrestling.
Here’s how TMZ Sports reported the news.
…Warrior collapsed outside an Arizona hotel at 5:50 PM on April 8th … while walking to his car with his wife.
Fans loved his manic style in the ring and on the microphone. His bulging physique, Warrior warpaint, and bicep streamers were a giant part of late 80s and early 90s wrestling. All he had to do was shake the ring ropes, and the crowd would go wild. Here’s the Warrior’s last appearance on WWE TV from this past Monday. At least fans got one more chance to see him don the paint of the Warrior and shake the rafters.
One of the Ultimate Warrior’s classic contests took place at Wrestlemania 7 vs the Macho Man Savage in a loser leaves the WWF forever match.
