Fans of Hawaii Five-0 can breathe a sigh of relief, Catherine Rollins will not be dying any time soon.
Back in March, news broke that Hawaii Five-0 actress Michelle Borth who plays Navy Lieutenant and Five-O leader Steve McGarrett’s (Alex O’Loughlin) girlfriend is exiting the series. Borth will not be returning for the upcoming fifth season of the show, which lead many fans to believe her character, Catherine, would bite the dust before the current season’s finale.
Peter Lenkov, executive producer, told TV Guide, “She doesn’t die. She goes out spectacularly. She goes out a hero, and the door’s open for her to come back. Hopefully we’ll see her again at some point.”
When it was revealed that Borth’s exit would coincide McGarrett and Catherine’s off the grid, dangerous trip to the Middle East, fans jumped to the conclusion that Catherine would fan an untimely end. Lenkov’s reassurance in the character’s exit not coming at the ultimate price, leaves fans with hope that Borth’s character Catherine will return when the story allows.
Catherine’s final episode titled “Makani” will explore the character’s past and bring a new intensity to her relationship with McGarrett. The “big, dramatic” romantic arc will also include a meaningful statement from at least one of the Five-O team as teased by Lenkov:
“I love you too” – you are you going to adore #H50 421

Borth’s Catherine Rollins first appeared in the fourth episode of season one. She was promoted to series regular in season three and later became the fifth member of the Five-O crew.
