Lifetime Orders New Reality Series from Big Brother Producers

Lifetime is looking to expand their reality TV lineup with Relative Insanity a new reality competition series.

From the producers of Big Brother (CBS), the ten episode series will feature two families, each locked in a room, competing for a $25,000 cash prize.

In each of the hour long episodes, two new families will be locked in adjacent rooms for two days. During the two days, the families will attempt to outlast the competition and earn the most money through various physical challenges, wild games and controversial family decisions.

Throughout their stay, the two families will be tempted with luxuries and household staples to make their stay more bearable. They will then have to decide whether to spend their earnings on these luxuries or pass on the items and keep their earnings in tact, while being unaware of what the other family has earned.

Contestants that cannot bare to remain in the locked room can hit an escape button for an early exit, but their exit will put the their family’s chance of winning on the line.

Relative Insanity comes from Fly on the Wall Entertainment (Big Brother, Summer Camp)  with partners Allison Grodner and Rich Meehan set to act as executive producers alongside John Platt.

Relative Insanity joins a growing number of unscripted series at Lifetime including Betty White’s Off Their Rockers, Project Runway, Dance Moms, and more.

Relative Insanity premieres on Lifetime Friday, April 25 at 10/9c.
