ABC is looking to continue their relationship with producers Neil Meron and Craig Zadan as the alphabet network announced this afternoon that the duo will return to produce the 87th Academy Awards in 2015.
Academy President Cheryl Boone Isaacs had the following to say about the duo:
“We couldn’t be more thrilled to have Craig and Neil back to produce the Oscars again in 2015. Their showmanship has elevated the show to new heights and we are excited to keep the momentum going with this creative partnership.”
Academy CEO Dawn Hudson, also released a statement about the choice to bring Meron and Zadan back for the 2015 Oscars. Hudson cited the duo’s ability to attract a variety of viewers and the duos mastery of social media involvement:
“This year’s show reached viewers of all ages and set social media records, proving that Craig and Neil are masters at tapping into the zeitgeist and capturing the hearts of movie fans around the world.”
Both Meron and Zadan have backgrounds in musical theatre and film production. The duo acted as executive producers for both the 85th and 86th Academy Awards in 2013 and 2014 respectively.
In a joint statement Zadan and Meron addressed their return for a third year:
“We are delighted to work with Cheryl, Dawn and the Academy to produce the Oscars for a third time. We’re proud of the show’s success over the last two years and are eager to embark on another entertaining show to honor this year’s motion pictures.”
Meron and Zadan’s 2014 Oscars ceremony, hosted by Ellen DeGeneres, hit a ten year ratings high and also managed to bring the world the most famous “selfie” to date (and the most retweet tweet ever on social media netword Twitter).
