USA to Air SVU Marathon to Commemorate National Sexual Assault Awareness Awareness & Prevention Month

USA is gearing up for a special Law & Order: SVU marathon in partner with series star Mariska Hargitay.  The special 16 episode marathon will run to help raise awareness of domestic violence and sexual assault.

The aptly titled “No More Excuses Marathon”  will commemorate National Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention month in partner with the No More campaign and with Hargitay’s Joyful Heart charitable foundation.

Hargitay will be hosting the marathon along side her fellow Law & Order: SVU co-stars Kelli Giddish, Danny Pino and Ice-T. Viewers tuning into the marathon will be encouraged to seek additional information online and to call a national hotline to speak with a counselor or advocate.

Hargitay expressed her deepest gratitude to USA for their partnership in the marathon and discussed the importance of the marathon’s message:

I am grateful to USA for their courage, vision and generosity in joining us to say NO MORE to domestic violence and sexual assault. Being part of NO MORE from the beginning has been a great privilege. Society continues to misplace shame and blame on survivors — both women and men. That has to end. NO MORE confronts the myths and excuses that perpetuate domestic violence and sexual assault. I am filled with confidence and renewed determination that, together, we can and will put an end to this violence.”

USA will also be airing public service announcements throughout the marathon from past Law & Order: SVU alums including Shohreh Aghdashloo, Maria Bello,  Andre Braugher, Dann Florek, Marcia Gay Harden, Peter Hermann, David Marciano, Christopher Meloni, Debra Messing, and Blair Underwood.

USA’s “No More Excuses Marathon” will kick off Sunday, April 27 at 10a.m./9c.
