We’re down to the final five on Fox’s American Idol with the race to the finale inching closer and closer. With the finale only weeks away, the five remaining hopefuls will need to give it their all if they want to make it to the final four next week.
This week the top five contestants will tackle “America’s Request” week. For those that tuned in for the Top Eight performance show on April 2, you might remember host Ryan Seacrest ask viewers to turn to Twitter with song selections. Seacrest encouraged viewers to tweet a song suggestion for the contestants using hashtag “IdolRequest,” and those paying close attention took Seacrest by his word and headed off to Twitter in hopes that their suggested song would get noticed.
For “America’s Request” week, the remaining five contestants will receive short lists of songs that were tweeted by the Idol fans. The contestants will then need to choose not one, but two songs from the list to perform on Wednesday night.
On a side note, it has also been announced that singer, song-writer Jason Mraz will join the American Idol crew to help mentor the contestants this week.
American Idol airs Wednesdays at 8/7c and Thursdays at 9/8c on Fox.
