Fox Developing Boston Marathon Bombing Event Series

Fox continues to add to it’s growing list of miniseries, adding an untitled event series about the Boston Marathon bombing.

Rob Lurie has signed on to the project, Lurie will be writing and directing the series. The untiled project is based on the best selling book Long Mile Home written by Boston Globe reporters.

The book “focuses on the real-life stories of five people whose lives are changes forever in two deafening blasts at the finish line of the 2013 Boston Marathon. It follows the heartbreak, terror and triumph on Boston’s tragic Marathon day and the week that followed.”

Basil Iwanyk (We Are Marshall) will produce the series through his Thunder Road production company.

Lurie visited the Boston area ahead of the 2014 marathon posting the following statement on his personal Facebook:

It’s a big beautiful city, with a bounce-back population that takes care, not just of its own, but others as well, and they aren’t about to be stopped by a couple of punks, potheads without a winning bone in their body, cowards without a country. There’s no place on Earth I’d rather be than right here, right now.

The untitled Boston Marathon project joins a growing list of event series for Fox including 24: Live Another Day, Gracepoint, Wayward Pines as well as recently announced Nazareth.

What do you think of Fox’s plan for a Boston Marathon bombing event series?
