Raising Whitley follows the life of actress, comedian Kym Whitley and her collective friends (nicknamed “The Village”) as they attempt to do something none of them have ever done before – raise a kid. The series hit a season high in its March 8 finale earning a .72 in the network’s key demo (women 25-54) and averaging 782,000 viewers.
Deion’s Family Playbook follows former NFL and MLB athlete Deion Sanders, as the athlete juggles raising his children and leading his Prime Prep Academy elementary school. The series averaged a .64 rating in the demo and averaged 716,000 weekly viewers, which made the show the highest rated first season docu-series to date.
Both Raising Whitley and Deion’s Family Playbook helped OWN increase it’s Saturday line-up by 75% in the first quarter of the year.
OWN president, Erik Logan, accounts the success of both series from the core family elements:
Each week we get to see another side of celebrity life as they handle the daily ups and downs of raising their families with laughter and humor along the way, and the audiences keep growing as the stories unfold.”
