2014 NFL Draft on ESPN: Preview and Live Stream

The biggest event on TV tonight involves young men at the height of their powers and billionaires making secretive decisions in war rooms. It might sound like a plot for a new episode of Scandal, but no. We of course are talking about the 2014 NFL Draft broadcast by ESPN. ESPN kicks off the NFL Draft weekend live from Radio City Music Hall in New York City. Tonight the network broadcasts round 1 of the Draft. Friday night rounds 2 and 3 are decided, and Saturday they wrap up the proceedings with rounds 4-7.

The NFL Draft is so successful that there is talk of breaking up future drafts over a seven day week with each day devoted to one round. ESPN has done their due diligence in hyping this year’s draft class, but this year’s class arrived with tons of pre-promotion. Big names like Johnny Manziel and Jadeveon Clowney have already been household names for two plus years. This year’s draft is also full of intrigue because none of the experts are in agreement on the player evaluations.

Here’s the information from ESPN about the crew on site tonight that will take us through the 1st round of the 2014 Draft.

Ray Lewis, new to ESPN’s NFL Draft commentator team, joins host Chris Berman, in his 34th year covering the event, and fellow analysts Jon Gruden and Mel Kiper Jr., in his 31st year, at the main set for round 1. NFL Insiders Chris Mortensen and Adam Schefter will report from an additional set and Suzy Kolber will conduct interviews with draftees.

All of ESPN’s big guns are on hand for tonight’s Draft. The NFL might only play 16 games per season, but it is a sport without a media off-season. The NFL Draft is now on par or grander than the NBA and NHL playoffs. Here are two clips to get viewers hyped up about tonight’s Draft. Here are two profile clips about Manziel and Clowney for the Draft.

The 2014-15 NFL season starts tonight on ESPN.
