Animal Planet Renews 'River Monsters' For Seventh Season

Get ready to spend another season searching for the world’s scariest underwater creatures!

Animal Planet has renewed River Monsters for a seventh season on the network. Starring Jeremy Wade, the series delves into the underwater world in search of scary, mysterious underwater creatures.

In each new episode, River Monsters follows Wade as he navigates the waters of the world, exploring for “freshwater mysteries.”

The unscripted series is the best-performing series the cable network has ever had. It’s most recent season sixth premiere was the most watched season premiere to date, and the season opener managed to rank as the most watched season premiere in the key demos in the network’s history.

Season six opened with a two-hour episode titled “Amazon Apocalypse,” which averaged 1.7 million total viewers for the network.

River Monsters’ sixth season comes to a close next Monday, with the episode titled “Body Snatcher.” The finale will feature Wade investigating rumors of a “body-snatching spirit and predatory freshwater mermaid.” The mysterious mermaid is rumored to drag men deep into the river, and they are never seen or heard of again.

Catch the season six finale of River Monsters, Monday, May 26 at 9/8c on Animal Planet.
