The two night finale event will kick-off tonight on ABC from 8/7c – 9:30/8:30c. The four remaining couples (Candace Cameron Bure & Mark Ballas, Meryl Davis & Maksim Chmerkovskiy, James Maslow & Peta Murgatroyd, and Amy Purdy & Derek Hough) will take to the ballroom for new all new routines.
The first routines of the night will be the same style of dance each contestant performed during the Switch Up week. After round one, the four couples will give it their all in a super-sized Freestyle routine full of special effects, added dancers and of course surprises.
Night one will conclude with an elimination, as viewers say goodbye to the couple with the lowest combined scores and viewer votes from last week.
Tomorrow the two-part finale will conclude in a night full of performances and special appearances, all leading up to the crowning of a new champion.
Here is a quick breakdown of what ABC has in store for Tuesday’s finale:
-The night will begin with a performance featuring the return of all 12 contestants from this season as well the judges.
-One of the three remaining couples will get to perform an encore of their Freestyle routine, the encore performance will be based on a Twitter vote.
-In one final routine, each couple will compete in the show’s “24 Hour Fusion Challenge.” The couples will be tasked with fusing together two contrasting styles of dance, which they will be assigned at the conclusion of Monday’s show. Then with less than 24 hours, the couple will have to come up with a routine that effortlessly fuses the styles together.
-Viewers will get a chance to see the live performance of Team Loca’s Latin Week group performance to “Livin’ La Vida Loca.” You might recall that in Latin Week, the audience at home and the judges had to base their scores/votes on dress rehearsal footage after contestant Amy Purdy was injured earlier in the night.
-The night will also feature encore performances of past routines featuring eliminated contestants.
-Olympic Gold Medalists partners Meryl Davis & Charlie White will dance together for the first time this season.
-The night will feature musical performances from Cody Simpson, Amber Riley, Christina Perri, Iggy Azalea, and Ariana Grande.
-Finally the night will conclude with the crowning of season 18’s champion.
Dancing with the Stars two-part finale event begins tonight at 8/7c on ABC.
