WWE: Raw May 26, Recap

In the final live Monday Night Raw before this Sunday’s Payback pay-per-view, rivals collided one final time, The Authority’s reign of terror continued, and we learn the fate of the WWE World Championship.

The night kicks off with a special Memorial Day tribute to the dedicated men and women of the United States Armed Forces for the sacrifices that they have made for our country.

After the tribute, Stephanie McMahon and Triple H make their way to the ring. Stephanie starts the night off by announcing that tonight’s show will be a historic edition of Raw. She continues that it will be a night of choices; the biggest choice being WWE World Champion Daniel Bryan’s of whether or not he should surrender his title.

The duo than call out Raw General Manager Brad Maddox. They question him about his choice to allow Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose to be ringside last week as official guest commentators.

Maddox tries to defend his actions, but The Authority doesn’t buy into his plea and Kane enters the arena to “teach Maddox a lesson.” Maddox’s suffering caps off as Stephanie announces that he is fired.

Match 1: Cesaro with Paul Heyman vs. Rob Van Dam

Winner: Cesaro

Match 2: Eva Marie vs. Summer Rae

Winner: Eva Marie

Match 3: Drew McIntyre with Heath Slater, Jinder Mahal and Hornswoggle vs. El Torito  with Fernando and Diego

Winner: El Torito

In between match-ups we get to see one last Bray Wyatt, John Cena storyline lead-in. It’s really a bunch of the same stuff we’ve been listening to the past few weeks: Bray is going to end Cena, Cena is going to issue some serious ‘payback” (pun included).

Match 4: Zack Ryder vs. Rusev with Lana

Winner: Rusev

Match 5: Batista & Randy Orton vs. Cody Rhodes and Goldust

Winner: Batista & Randy Orton

Match 6: Goldust vs. Batista and Randy Orton (No Holds Barred Match)

Winner: Batista & Randy Orton

Match 7: Bo Dallas vs. Sin Cara

Winner: Bo Dallas

Stephanie McMahon returns to the ring and calls out Daniel Bryan. Stephanie once again prods Bryan for a decision about the future of the championship. As we begin to believe Bryan is getting ready to hand over the title, he flips the table (and in typical Bryan fashion) begins to chant his answer as the crowd joins in, “NO! NO! NO!”

Stephanie says that she thought Byran’s ego would get the better of him, mocking that his injury must have affected his brain.

Stephanie informs Bryan that two weeks ago as he was being taken by ambulance, his wife Brie Bella laid her hands on her. We see footage of the event as Stephanie continues to inform Bryan that no one can put their hands on the boss.

She says she will give Bryan one final chance to make his decision this Sunday at Payback, either he surrenders his title or Brie will be fired from the WWE.

Match 8: Alicia Fox vs. Emma

Winner: Emma

Match 9: Damien Sandow vs Adam Rose with the Exotic Express

Winner: Adam Rose

Match 10: Sheamus vs. Alberto Del Rio

Winner: Sheamus

Closing the night out is the official contract signing between Evolution and The Shield.

The two stables exchange heated words back and forth, and finally the two stables sign the contract.

The two groups then ensue in battle in the ring, but it is Evolution that comes out on top. If tonight’s mini-duel is a hint of what’s to come this Sunday at Payback, the WWE Universe is in for quite a show.
