Last season on TNT’s Major Crimes, testimony from Sharon Raydor’s (Mary McDonnell) former street rat Rusty Beck (Graham Patrick Martin) helped to seal the fate of murderer, rapist, stalker Phillip Stroh (Billy Burke) fate. However in a new interview with TVLine, Major Crimes creator James Duff teases that what we saw was just the beginning of Stroh’s prosecution:
“That was just a pretrial hearing [at which Stroh was a sick no-show]. We have not made a deal nor have we had the trial.”
If Stroh should return in the flesh on the series, Duff hopes that Stroh’s longtime adversary the closer herself, former MCD boss Brenda Leigh Johnson (The Closer‘s Kyra Sedgwick) would be able to return as well. After all, the significance behind Stroh’s trial would be nothing without Johnson presence:
“That’s the thing – I’d like to have them both there. And it would have to be a two-parter. There’s a great move to make there that we have not made and believe me, I’m plotting!”
Should Burke and Sedgwick return, the show could finally resolve he Stroh storyline which began way back in 2009 on The Closer.
Major Crimes returns for its third season Monday, June 9 at 9/8c on TNT.
