2014 Belmont Stakes Start Time & California Chrome Triple Crown Preview

The race for the 2014 Belmont Stakes kicks off a great weekend for sports. The mile and a half long track is even more important this year because California Chrome has a chance to complete the Triple Crown of racing after already winning the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness. A horse capturing the Triple Crown hasn’t happened since Affirmed in 1978. Here is a preview of the race and some background on California Chrome from NBC.

The question now is can California Chrome win at the Belmont. The Belmont is the longest race of the Triple Crown at a mile and a half. Some horse experts are saying the longer track will doom Chrome’s chances to win. Not only will the horse have to win on uncomfortable track lengths, he’s also be facing fresher horses. So Hidden Remote is throwing their vote in with the field for today’s race. Remember that it is very common for horses to win the Derby and Preakness, but fall apart at the Belmont. Horses with tons of hype like War Emblem, Funny Cide, and Smarty Jones have all fallen away in this race.

Here’s the complete schedule for today’s race activities on NBC.
