Deadline reports that Melissa & Joey, 666 Park Avenue star Samantha Logan (seen above) has been cast as the lead of the network’s drama pilot about teenage addiction.
Based on Blake Nelson’s young adult novel, Recovery Road tells the story of a teenage girl, Maddie Graham (Logan), struggling with addiction. Maddie is described as a party girl who is one day confronted by her high school guidance councilor. Her councilor gives her the options of either entering rehab or being expelled. The series will follow Maddie as she balances her high school life and her struggles in rehab.
Rounding out the pilot’s cast are Alexis Carra (Mixology), Sebastian De Souza, Kyla Pratt (Dr. Doolittle), Justin Prentice (Malibu Country) and Cara Sunshine (Shake It Up).
Carra will play Cynthia McDermott, the high school counselor who confronts Maddie about her addiction and sends her off to rehab.
De Souza has landed the drama pilot’s lead male role as Wes Stewart. Stewart is described as a “mysterious, bad boy type” patient in rehab whom Maddie quickly falls for.
Pratt will portray Trish Collins, Maddie’s rehab roommate. While Prentice will play Dallas “the uber-popular, devious, yet sentimental high school bad boy.
Rounding out the pilot’s cast, Sunshine has been cast as Emily Owensby. Emily is Maddie’s closest friend, who becomes “increasingly concerned about Maddie’s partying” ways.
