After weeks of speculation, Triple and Stephanie McMahon (The Authority) announced yesterday on Monday Night Raw that Daniel Bryan was officially stripped of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
The announcement was made at the beginning of Monday’s Raw, as part of the night’s opening segment. The duo entered the ring where they proceeded to inform the WWE Universe that WWE physician Dr. Joseph Maroon had evaluated Daniel’s condition and could now officially comment on Bryan’s injury status.
Dr. Maroon entered the arena to explain that it would be detrimental to Daniel’s long term health should he return to the ring too quickly. Dr. Maroon continued to say that Daniel’s status would be re-evaluated in the future, but Daniel can not return this month.
As Daniel can not compete at the upcoming Money in the Bank pay-per-view, The Authority must do what’s best for business and strip him of his WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Stephanie then informs the WWE that for the first time ever, the WWE World Heavyweight Championship title’s fate will be determined in a ladder match at Money in the Bank.
The Authority continues that there will be a series of qualifying matches to determine which Superstars will compete for the title. It is announced that Alberto Del Rio is the first man to enter the Money in the Bank match after winning a qualifying match last week. Triple H adds that the second competitor competing in the match will be Randy Orton because, well “he deserves it.”
The remaining spots in the Money in the Bank championship match-up will be determined over the next few weeks in a series of qualifying rounds that have yet to be announced.
