Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip will tour the Belfast studios where Game of Thrones is filmed. Game of Thrones is estimated to be the largest television production in all of Europe. The Belfast Telegraph reports that through the first four seasons of the HBO drama, the series has brought in $139 million dollars to the Northern Ireland area. The series has also reportedly created the equivalent of over 900 full time and 5,700 part time jobs.
The royal duo will also visit the historic Crumlin Road Goal, a prison “synonymous with the dark years of the Troubles” that has since been transformed into a popular visitor attraction, as well as attending a reception and lunch at the Belfast City Hall and a garden party at the Hillsborough Castle.
Fingers crossed for a photo of the Queen on the Iron Throne!
