ABC announced on Wednesday that Extreme Weight Loss has been renewed for a 13 episode fifth season. In addition to the season five renewal, ABC also announced plans to air three specials next summer.
Extreme Weight Loss follows individuals’ journeys to lose weight over the length of one year with the help of personal trainer Chris Powell.
The three special editions, aptly called Extreme Weight Loss: Love Can’t Weight will feature trainer Chris and his wife Heidi Powell guiding three couples in getting in shape (both physically and mentally) for their upcoming weddings. The three weight loss wedding specials will be also air next summer.
Early renewals for the series are a reoccurring trend as the show follows a 365 day production schedule.
Extreme Weight Loss currently airs Tuesdays at 8/7c, with the series’ most recent outing bringing in 2.88 million total viewers and a 0.8 rating in the adults 18-49 age demo, up nine percent in the demo from last season’s demo numbers.
