The Challenge: Free Agents kicked off the show’s final challenge in the final minutes of last week’s episode. Only six competitors remain. For the men it is Zach, Bananas, and Johnny, and for the women it is down to Nany, Laurel and Devyn. The smart money is on Zach and Laurel taking the top spots, but it won’t be easy to nail down the win. TJ revealed that the final challenge will be broken down into 5 different stages. Here is the complete breakdown of the finale from Wikipedia.

The final challenge is a five-stage competition in a race to the top of Villarica. The first three stages are male/female pairs, while the last two stages are individual competitions. Each guy is paired with each girl in the initial three stages. When each player reaches the top of the volcano, their accumulated times from each stage will be added up. The guy and girl with the fastest accumulated times will win $125,000 apiece.

In the 1st stage, a kayak race, Zach was teamed up with Devyn, the show’s human mill stone. Zach is maybe the most athletic guy left, but working with Devyn on the water was a total disaster. Devyn can’t row, can’t keep her balance, and basically sits there looking nervous. In the end the kayak turned over and sent Zach shooting down the rapids, while Devyn was picked up by the show’s producers. With the final competition based on total time, this might have put a major ding in Zach’s chances to reach the top. The good news is that Zach isn’t the only person being effected by these forced pairings. Laurel and Johnny working together on a puzzle is a great advertisement for staying in school.
