CBS’ Under the Dome returned on Monday night for its second season with 9.4 million total viewers and a 2.2. in the demo. While Under the Dome managed to pull in the night’s biggest audience, the series’ season two premiere was down 30 percent in total viewers and 33 percent in the demo from its season one premiere a year ago (which pulled 13.5 million total viewers and a 3.3 in the demo).
Monday’s new Under the Dome was also down 20 percent from its season one finale (12.1 mil/2.8), hitting a series low in total viewers. Despite the small decline in viewers, Under the Dome is still the summer’s most watched and highest rated scripted program.
Here is how the other networks faired:
ABC: An all new The Bachelorette pulled in 6.3 million total viewers and a 1.5 in the demo, flat for the night. Following The Bachelorette, an all new Mistresses captured 4.1 million total viewers and a 1.1 in the demo, up 14 percent and a tenth from last week’s new outing.
Fox: Over on Fox, an all new MasterChef brought in 5.2 million total viewers and a 1.9 in the demo, up two tenths in the demo to season highs. Ending the night for Fox, 24: Live Another Day brought in 5.8 million total viewers and a 1.5 in the demo, up a tenth in the demo.
The CW: A new episode of Beauty and the Beast averaged 810,000 viewers and a 0.3 in the demo, flat in total viewers and in the demo.
