Jennifer Love Hewitt Joins CBS' 'Criminal Minds'

Jennifer Love Hewitt is headed back to CBS.

CBS announced on Tuesday that Jennifer Love Hewitt will join Criminal Mind as a series regular for the series’ upcoming tenth season.

Erica Messer, Criminal Minds‘ executive producer, is thrilled to add Hewitt to the series cast, promising “exciting storylines” for her character:

“We’re thrilled to introduce a new special agent by adding the very talented Jennifer Love Hewitt to our amazing cast. Many of us on the show have enjoyed working with her over the years and look forward to again. We have exciting storylines planned for her character and the entire BAU team as we head into our 10th season.”

Hewitt will join the series as Kate Callahan, an undercover agent whose success at the FBI has earned her a position with the Behavioral Analysis Unit.

Hewitt will be thrown immediately into the mix, making her debut during the season ten premiere this fall. Her character is set to fill the void left by Jeanne Tripplehorn who exited the series in the season nine finale after two years on the series.

Criminal Minds returns for its tenth season Wednesday, October 1 at 9/8c on CBS.
