Every year the TV community gets excited for the reveal of the Emmy nominations…and then immediately gets disappointed not long after they are announced. To be fair, that could happen again this Thursday after this year’s nominations are revealed.  However given last year’s nominees, we have a lot of reasons to believe maybe the Emmy voters are getting slightly better at making selections.

The problem is that the Academy loves to play favorites and that is what makes the ceremony so dull. Fans hate seeing the same people and shows win year after year. In some cases it is deserved but in others it just seems like a lack of a better option. This year we’ve seen an influx of legitimately strong talent and that could change the game in a good way.

Around every June/July, every site does some sort of “dream ballot,” but let’s be honest, no matter how in love some critics are with certain shows and actors…they are never going to get nominated for that particular series or role. It’s just not in the cards and yes it’s unfair, but it’s also not going to change, so we wanted to do things differently.

In this case every show included has a realistic chance of breaking through in one or more of the categories listed for a myriad of reasons. Whether it was prior nominations from other groups or a buzz factor that was off the charts, here’s a list of programs and performers that stand the best chance of breaking into Emmy’s golden graces.
