Breaking News: Rosie O'Donnell Signs on to Return to 'The View'

It’s official: Rosie O’Donnell is heading back to The View.

O’Donnell has signed on to return to the ABC daytime talk show, following the exits of Jenny McCarthy and Sherri Shepherd, TMZ reports.

The View has found itself in hot water in recent months. In addition to the departures of McCarthy and Shepherd, the daytime talk series also said goodbye to longtime View co-host Barbara Walters who retired from her co-hosting duties back in May. O’Donnell will join Whoopi Goldberg, the only remaining co-host attached to the series.

O’Donnell first joined The View back in 2006, helping the series rebound after the departure of then co-host Meredith Vieira. O’Donnell famously exited the series a year later in 2007 after an on-air feud with former co-host Elizabeth Hasselbeck.

In addition to O’Donnell, ABC is reportedly looking to cast a Latina and a conservative figure to round out the show’s new cast. ABC has also hinted that the series might welcome its first male co-host after 17 seasons on air.

ABC has yet to release any official announcement, only offering that any announcement pertaining to the show’s casting status is weeks away.

After exiting The View O’Donnell has appeared on multiple series including Lifetime’s Drop Dead Diva, ABC Family’s The Fosters and even hosted a short lived talk show on Oprah’s OWN Network.
