Ratings: 'Under the Dome' Hits New Low

CBS’ Under the Dome may still be able to call itself the most watched scripted summer program, but the drama’s sophomore season has clearly lost some steam.

Monday’s new Under the Dome averaged 7.7 million total viewers and a 1.7 in the demo, down significantly from last week’s season opener and hitting an all time demo low. While Monday’s new episode managed to attract the night’s largest audience, the series’ demo rating was easily beaten by Fox’s MasterChef, ABC’s The Bachelorette and NBC’s American Ninja Warrior.

Another negative note for Under the Dome, Monday’s new episode was down even more when compared to last summer’s second episode of the season, which managed to attract 11 million total viewers and a 2.9 in the demo.

Here is how the night’s other new outings faired:

ABC: An all new episode of The Bachelorette pulled in 6.8 million total viewers and a 1.8 in the demo, up two tenths from last week’s new outing. Following The Bachelorette, an all new Mistresses pulled in 3.7 million viewers and a 0.9 in the demo, falling two tenths to a series low.

Fox: Over on Fox, a new MasterChef pulled in 5.7 million total viewers and a 1.9 in the demo, adding a few viewers and remaining steady in the demo (Monday’s new MasterChef managed to claim the night’s highest demo rating). Closing the night for Fox, 24: Live Another Day pulled in 6 million total viewers and a 1.5 in the demo, rising 5 percent in total viewers and up a tenth in the demo.

NBC: An all new American Ninja Warrior pulled in 5.4 million total viewers and a 1.8 in the demo, rising 4 percent in total viewers and a tenth in the demo.

The CW: In The CW’s only new outing, the season two finale of Beauty and the Beast brought in 880,000 viewers and a 0.3 in the demo, was steady, but the season two finale was down slightly from its freshman finale (1.2 mil/0.5).
