According to reports out of TMZ, O’Donnell is in “active negotiations” to return to The View this fall. Per reports, The View is currently in talks with O’Donnell’s representatives discussing her possible salary an other terms for the deal.
While ABC and O’Donnell have yet to release any type of official statement about the rumors, TMZ reports that the parties could be “sealing the deal” any moment, with an official announcement coming as earlier as the end of the week.
Should O’Donnell return to The View, she will join Whoopi Goldberg who is currently the only co-host still remaining on the show. After bidding farewell to long-time co-host Barbara Walters back in May, it was revealed that fellow co-host Jenny McCarthy and Sherri Shepherd would also be exiting the daytime talk show this August.
This would be O’Donnell’s second go-around at The View table, after a brief co-hosting stint from September 2006 to May 2007. O’Donnell famously exited the series in 2007 after an on-air feud with former co-host Elizabeht Hasselbeck.
O’Donnell would be the perfect fit for The View‘s new direction, and she was one of my picks in our 10 Celebrities that Would Make Perfect View Co-hosts feature.
Since leaving The View, O’Donnell has gone on to appear in a number of series including Lifetime’s Drop Dead Diva and a hosting stint on a new talk show for Oprah’s OWN Network.
