Reactions over the decision to cast a female ‘Doctor Who’ are varied but let’s put gender aside for a minute to consider why Jodie Whittaker was chosen.

Jodie Whittaker as the next Doctor Who was only announced on Sunday and I think it’s safe to say that the news of her casting has certainly caused much debate amongst many.

Mainly due to her gender, some are happy at a female Doctor and some are not.

To be honest, I don’t care, it’s Doctor Who, a time travelling alien with two hearts who has lived many different lives. The Doctor can regenerate into a damn Ewok from Star Wars for all I care, hell could you imagine if the Doctor became a Dalek? Considering all the other weird and wonderful storylines Doctor Who has gone down this is hardly a stretch of the imagination.

But, let’s take gender out of the equation and have a look at why Whittaker is actually a really good choice for Doctor Who and believe me, by the end of this article, you will realise that choosing her as the Doctor has nothing to do with being female.
