Scream 5: Harvey Weinstein Trying to Produce Final Scream Movie to End Series

Back in the late 90s, Wes Craven not only reinvented himself but took a stab at the genre he got famous in. The brilliantly crafted Scream still stands as a modern classic, but the series has gone on to produce three sequels and an eventual television series on MTV.

But iconic producer Harvey Weinstein isn’t ready to kill the series just yet, as according to MovieWeb.com he wants to produce a fifth film in the series to end things once and for all.

“Everyone lived in Scream 4. I’m begging him to do the movie and just end it. We’ve milked that cow.”

He has a point, and after tossing aside the fact he spoiled his own film in Scream 4, the series didn’t have a very satisfying ending with the latest installment and needs a proper send off.

It’s not like Scream is a franchise like The Godfather, but it’s also not a culturally irrelevant series. It helped change horror movies and gave us one of the most iconic villains in the genre, so sending the movies off right is only proper.

As for the television show, it’s reportedly going to be entirely unrelated to the film franchise and may end up involving supernatural elements. This doesn’t mesh with what the films have been about, so don’t think this is Weinstein trying to produce a film that will leas into a television series.

Do you think Scream needs a fifth film to wrap things up or should the series just end where it is now? Sound off in the comments section and let us know.
