Breaking Bad’s Dean Norris always plays a cop

Dean Norris, Hank Schrader from Breaking Bad, fits the cop role very well.

Dean Norris played Walter White’s aggressive brother-in-law on Breaking Bad. The man that is married to Marie has to have his own dominant personality and the DEA agent had no problem getting everyone’s attention.

Before his role on Breaking Bad, Norris acted in many films and TV shows. There was always a common denominator in these roles.

Bennet Hawkins with Uproxx highlights this fact in an article he wrote. His research revealed this:

“Dean Norris has had fruitful acting career, playing all sorts of parts from S.W.A.T. team leader to homicide detective to beat cop to security guard to highway patrolman. The man plays law enforcement parts a lot. He’s well-aware of his typecasting, too: ‘I used to call myself the alphabet actor. FBI, CIA, DEA, You name it, I’ll play it.’ In total, Norris has played some sort of law enforcement official 35 times.”

Norris’ role on Breaking Bad was one of the most prominent of his acting career. Hank Scrader was on over 60 episodes and was a necessary part in Breaking Bad’s story. He provided a heightened sense of suspense and drama as Walter White tried to manage his meth trade.

It seems like a no-brainer to not start a drug ring if your brother-in-law is a DEA agent. However, Walter White is a genius and he won’t back down from any challenge.

Will we see Hank Schrader on Better Call Saul? It would make sense with Saul Goodman’s legal background and the type of people he chooses to associate with. One of his clients could’ve been caught up with the DEA at some point before Breaking Bad. Betsy Brandt (Marie Schrader) has said that she would be in for a cameo. Does this mean Hank will join her?

Season two of Better Call Saul will premiere in early 2016.
