“Childhood’s End Could Be The Next Syfy Miniseries You Must See”
Charles Dance (Tywin Lannister, GOT) takes center stage in the announcement trailer for Syfy’s big adaptation of the alien invasion novel, Childhood’s End, by Arthur C. Clarke. I am completely jazzed to find out that this novel will be made into a miniseries. I absolutely loved the book!
Arthur C. Clarke is one of the revolutionary’s in the world of science fiction literature, and Childhood’s End is one of his greatest books.
It was the first book of its kind. the novel takes place after Earth has been invaded by aliens. This takeover is a peaceful one, but humanity is then officially under alien rule. They are waiting for something to happen. The story takes years to transpire (if I remember right it was over 50 years). The aliens will only communicate through the alien ambassador for many years. They set up a sort of Heaven-on-Earth for us, but is this oasis really what it seems?
Charles Dance (Game of Thrones) has been cast as Karellen, the Ambassador for the Overlords, the name of the aliens. Mike Vogel (Under the Dome) will return to television as Ricky Stormgren, a farmer who has been chosen to be the Human’s Ambassador to the Overlords. The show will also star Julian McMahon (Nip/Tuck) will play Rupert Boyce, an American entrepreneur with a secret.
The series will premiere this December.
