Hannibal Dream Director: Joss Whedon

Hannibal Season 3 is right around the corner, and it appears that Hollywood directors might be drawn to the series.

Around April Fool’s Day, it was rumored that Oscar-nominated director Guillermo del Toro was going to be directing an episode of Hannibal — but it was a rumor that proved false.

That got the Hollywood juices flowing though, as the idea of having a big name director come in and direct an episode — or even an entire season — of Hannibal is an intriguing idea. If Hannibal ever went Hollywood with it’s choice of directors, then Joss Whedon needs to be on the list.

Whedon is a fanboy god, as he’s carved his place in the Mount Rushmore of geekdom with projects like Buffy, Firefly and most recently his work with Avengers and Marvel.

But Whedon is a guy who knows genre and he knows how to work it for fanboys. If he ever got a hold of an episode of Hannibal, it could be something fantastic. He knows exactly what buttons to push and what to do to ensure whatever he touches turns to fanboy gold.

Hannibal has a fanboy style following, and it’s something that Whedon could tap into and really make his own.

He may not be someone who Hannibal immediately thinks of as a great choice for director, but he’s someone they’d definitely need to consider.
