Alana’s got big plans for her former lover on Season 3 of Hannibal.
You’ve gotta hand it to Alana Bloom (Caroline Dhavernas) — even after she was tricked and betrayed by Hannibal (Mads Mikkelsen), she’s not afraid to get into bed with a villain again. The villain? Mason Verger (Joe Anderson) himself.
Of course, we don’t mean get into bed literally — she’s saving that for Mason’s sister Margot (Katharine Isabelle) — but she will team up with him to try to bring Hannibal to justice.
“She gets that, if Hannibal is to be found, someone wants him dead, more than anyone it’s Mason,” said Dhavernas in a recent interview. “His face has been destroyed — he ate his face because of Hannibal, so, he’s angry, and he has every right to be.”
Before you get too worried, Alana’s not out for vengeance per se. Mason wants Hannibal dead, and he wants it done brutally. Alana, meanwhile, just wants Hannibal behind bars. (It’s hard to say which fate would be worse for the cannibal.)
“She’s a smart cookie because she decides to go to him and use him as much as she can, to find Hannibal, and eventually, if possible, grab him before Mason gets to him and destroys him,” Dhavernas continued, adding with a laugh, “Of course, that plan won’t go as she imagined, because they never do on Hannibal, but that’s the plan.”
Showrunner Bryan Fuller previously revealed that of all the Hannibal players, Alana will undergo the “greatest change” in Season 3 — and it sounds like, despite a weaker body, she’ll grow a lot stronger.
Hannibal returns on its new night, Thursday, June 4 at 10 p.m. on NBC.
