Sony’s Big Movie News Day

“Sony Bombards Us With Movie News: Spider-Man, Jumanji, and The Dark Tower, Oh My!”

Yes Sony, thank you for all of the movie news that you have decided to unload on us today. We finally have some news about some long-awaited films, and they even give a bit of “Spider-Man” reboot news. Sony has updated the status on “The Dark Tower” movie adaptation, The “Jumanji” remake, and everything that they have cooking with the “Spider-Man” reboot and animated film. Feast your eyes on these little bits of happiness.

“The Dark Tower” finally has a release date. This is great news, because this means that we are not going to have to wait much longer to begin getting news on the film. The premier date for “The Dark Tower” is January 13, 2017. At least this film isn’t a summer film, because I don’t think that this book needs to be a big summer tent pole film. It needs to be dark, and have a more serious note. Another good thing about this date is that it is only a year and a half away. Get ready for this film. It will be big, we hope.

Sony also released information regarding their “Spider-Man” re-reboot. The new live-action film is currently slated for a July 28, 2017 date. There will also be an animated “Spider-Man” film by Chris Miller and Phil Lord. This has a July 20, 2018 date. Does this mean that Sony is still planning on one “Spider-Man” film a year? It seems so.

The new “Jumanji” film has a date now, and that date is December 25, 2016. That is next year! With a December release date, the film will definitely be following the trend of family friendly films releasing at Christmas time, where they do well.

There were some other films that were mentioned. Check them out below:

  • The “Barbie” movie will hit theaters in June 2017.
  • “Bad Boys” is getting two sequels. Who will be returning is unknown at the moment, this could even be a reboot.
  • “Passengers” is a space romance, starring none other than Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence. It has received a December 22, 2016 date. That means next Christmas we might be getting Star Lord/Mystique babies. Too much?
  • “Underworld 5” will be here in October 2016.
  • “Resident Evil: The Final Chapter” will be here in January 2017. Probably followed by “Resident Evil 18: Plants vs. Zombies”. Ok, the last one was a joke, but what is this, the sixth or seventh film in the series? I doubt that this series will be done.
  • The new “Ghostbusters” movie has moved up a week, to July 15th. This will get the film away from the new “King Arthur” movie. This is a good move.
