X-Men: Apocalypse Pics Reveal Angel and a Better En Sabah Nur

X-Men: Apocalypse is going to be a big film full of mutants. This is an undeniable fact. It will finish out the ‘young X-Men’ trilogy, and could be the last film with Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique. This film looks to pack in the mutant cameos, which usually means they will kill off a lot of characters after their cameo.

There has been a big glaring mark on this film since images of the main characters began releasing: En Sabah Nur (Apocalypse) looked a lot different than his comic counterpart, and fans were not happy. Some even compared the villains new look to that of the Mighty Morphine Power Rangers villain, Ivan Ooze. For those of you clueless to this character, it is not a good comparison. See the image below to see what I mean:

Fan backlash from this image was huge, and people involved with the film quickly responding, saying that the colors of the villain are changed slightly because of lighting in the scene. Ever since the image was released, fans have made the proper changes to the character, so that he resembles his image from the comics a bit more. Some were even whispering that Bryan Singer is a director who will listen to the masses, and it seems that in this new set of images that he has.

The new images give us some VFX house reveals of characters, and better looks at other characters.

ANGEL LOOKS GREAT!

What else can be said about this. Angel err, Archangel looks great! It appears as thought they have not swayed much from the first characters concept art. The results just look amazing. We do not know if we will see Angel experience his transformation into Archangel in the film, but this would be a big plot point. It would also allow audiences to relate to Warren Worthington III (Angel). The only hint at this is that Bryan Singer recently leaked out this production artwork that shows Angel with his feathered wings:

I think that there is a good chance that Bryan Singer will be including the transformation in the film. He typically doesn’t just leak images like this without motivation. The new image shows Angel (Ben Hardy) and Psylocke (Olivia Munn) and is a shot from a VFX house. Angel is in a  futuristic looking suit, and doesn’t have his wings. Check out the image below:

There is a rift that exists here, when talking about Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac). On one side is the film production crew, and on the other, the fans. The first photos stray from the comic appearance of the Apocalypse. Fans took to every form of social media to let the crew know that they messed up, and it appears that they have listened. Fans were peeved my his lack of size, color scheme, and even costume changes (his lack of blue lips).Fans stated that the character looked cheesy, and was compared to a cosplay costume.

The latest reveal of the character’s appearance, shows us an Apocalypse that is closer to the comic design. Does this mean that changes were made in post production to the character, or was this the studios intent all along, and the initial image outcries were due to lighting. Check out the new image below:

Just look at the eyes! They look great. you can see that the costume does relate directly back to his comic book design. He even has the blue lips, sort of. This new look reassures me that thing will be ok. Newer X-Men Team Costumes and Characters I can’t tell you whether these are future shots or not. Yes, we could have time travel in this film as well, because Apocalypse is the fist mutant and immortal. The new X-Men team costumes have a look that is similar to the future team outfits that we saw them donning in X-Men: Days of Future Past. Check out the team images below:

The team looks great. Back are the dark blacks and grey into the X-Men team costumes. They have an armored appearance, similar to the futuristic costumes that we’ve seen them wear in the future. This is really my only basis for saying that this film may take place during different times, a.k.a. time travel. Another actress who has been training like crazy for the role of Psylocke is Olivia Munn. You can see her below showing off some of her sword skills:
