Wednesday evening, the daytime family lost one of their own when former One Life to Live star Nathaniel Marston – who played Dr. Michael McBain on the former ABC daytime drama – passed away at age 40 of injuries sustained in a automobile accident back in late-October.
Marston’s mother, Elizabeth, confirmed the news of her son’s passing via Facebook on Wednesday night.
“Dear family and friends, it is with a heavy heart that I share this devastating news. My beloved and cherished son, Nathaniel Marston, who was putting up the good fight until last night was not able to continue due to the traumatic and devastating nature of his injuries. Nathaniel passed away peacefully as I held him in my arms.”
As previously reported, Martson has remained in critical condition following the accident which left him with a broken back and next, and several other internal injuries – which, as his mother notes in her extended Facebook statement, would have left him without the ability to move or speak.
Following the news, Marston’s on-screen brother, actor Michael Easton took to his Facebook page to share the following heartfelt story in honor of his late co-star.

I remember the hat. Nate wore it often. He would wear it on a winter’s day in New York with no jacket. Just a sweatshirt and that brown hat, brim turned up and he’d be laughing.
That’s how I’ll always think of Nathaniel. Walking up Columbus Avenue, the wind blowing against him. He is smiling, moving towards me, growing larger and larger.
My thoughts and prayers go out to Nathan’s family, his friends and all the fans who mourn his passing.
