The cast of ABC’s cult comedy ‘Ugly Betty’ are officially reuniting for a special panel at the 2016 ATX Festival – but could a reunion season actually follow?
The Ugly Betty reunion we’ve all been waiting for is finally happening!
The cast of ABC’s former comedy are set to reunite for a special ATX Festival panel sponsored by Entertainment Weekly – which will act as the closing night event for the four-day festival.
“I am so excited for the Ugly Betty cast to be reuniting at ATX,” star America Ferrera said in a statement. “They are truly my family and we can’t wait to celebrate together.”

In addition to Ferrera, the special Ugly Betty reunion event will feature stars Mark Indelicato (Justin Suarez), Ashley Jensen (Christina McKinney), Eric Mabius (Daniel Meade), Becki Newton (Amanda Tanen), Ana Ortiz (Hilda Suarez), Tony Plana (Ignacio Suarez), Rebecca Romijn (Alexis Meade), Michael Urie (Marc St. James), and Vanessa Williams (Wilhelmina Slater). At this time, fellow stars Judith Light (Claire Meade) and Christopher Gorham (Henry Grubstick) are not scheduled to appear at the event.
The special closing night event is part of a new multi-year partnership between EW and the ATX Festival. Last year, EW hosted a special reunion with the Gilmore Girls cast to reflect on the series and its loyal fans.
Months later, Netflix announced its plans for the upcoming Gilmore Girls revival. While there is no connection to the two events – at least that we know of – EW‘s Ugly Betty closing night reunion event may be just what we need to get the ball rolling on an Ugly Betty revival.Credit ABC via tumblr

Ugly Betty ran for four seasons on ABC from 2006 to 2010. During its four year run, the series was shuffled around quite a bit – which many fans believe played a factor in the series’ cancelation. After airing its first two seasons as part of ABC’s Thursday night line-up, ABC moved the critically acclaimed comedy to Friday nights before shuffling it over to Wednesday nights during its final season.
During its four seasons, Ugly Betty managed to walk away with a Golden Globe for Best Comedy Series in 2007 and two Primetime Emmys for Outstanding Casting and Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series. The series also landed Ferrera an Emmy, a Golden Globe and a Screen Actors Guild Award for her work as the series’ leading lady.
