‘Scream’ Season 2 Advanced Preview

The Season 2 finale of MTV’s Scream “When a Stranger Calls” debuts Tuesday (August 16) and here’s everything you need to know about it…

Quick Recap of Where We Left Off

Emma (Willa Fitzgerald) and Audrey (Bex Taylor-Klaus) had been arrested for the mayor’s (Bryan Batt) murder. A convalescing Noah (John Karna) had his laptop hacked and a video was then uploaded on The Morgue, that combined footage and out of context comments made by Emma and Audrey to make it look like they were the Killers.

New Episode Synopsis

Emma and Audrey must make a daring move, facing off with the Killer, and unmasking Piper’s (Amelia Rose Blaire) final surprise.

What We Know About “When a Stranger Calls”

Based off of the preview, it appears that Ghost Face will spring Audrey and Emma from the police cruiser via car accident. From there, the two will be on the run and involved in a direct cat-and-mouse game with the Killer. Meanwhile, Noah will be working alongside Brooke (Carlson Young), Kieran (Amadeus Serafini) and possibly Stavo (Santiago Segura) to solve the murders, once and for all.

#1 Thing We Want to See Happen

So much of Season 2 has revolved around Jake’s (Tom Maden) murder and Brooke dealing with its aftermath. She was so broken up when it first happened; she was practically catatonic at one point. She even tarred and feathered the town in a searing speech aimed at them moving on too quickly; ignoring the murder of a guy they barely knew, so they could party it up at the town’s annual carnival. She then went home, devastated by the death of her beloved boyfriend and…hooked up with Stavo; so much for mourning “The Jake”. If someone does not call Brooke out for her hypocrisy and also point out that her dad had no culpability in Jake’s murder than we are going to be ticked. Jake died because a maniac was after him. Not because he was doing underhanded stuff for her dad.

What Might Happen

We can assert that given Noah’s big clue in the trailer, Ghost Face is either one of the Lakewood 6, Eli (Sean Grandillo) or Stavo (Santiago Segura). Expect answers as to why Eli was at Will’s (Connor Weill) funeral and an explanation for some of the other creepy things he has done. Answering all of the questions Season 2 has dredged up will be a difficult task to accomplish in a single hour, or so it seems at first glance.

There is also the issue of the adults. Emma’s mom (Tracy Middendorf) and Sheriff Acosta (Anthony Ruivivar) share a secret that might blow up in their faces. They helped save Brandon James’ life all those years ago. Is he still alive? What if he shows up and saves Emma and Audrey from Ghost Face, revealing he has been alive this entire time? That would pave the way for Season 3 to deal with his re-integration into society and set the course for Noah to solve another big mystery; who was behind the original Lakewood massacre, if Brandon James is not the guilty party.

Why We’re Excited

After a season of twists and turns, that have yielded little in the way of concrete clues to the Killer’s identity, it will be a great relief to finally unveil the latest culprit behind the mask. Is it Kieran? Is it a mentally fragmented Emma? Is it the way-too-obvious Eli? There’s only one way to find out.

The Season 2 finale of Scream airs Tuesday (August 16) at 10/9c on MTV
