Kendall Malone – Orphan Black

Last Words: “No tears, Cosima. These shites aren’t worth the salt. Tell Siobhan she’s done right, always. And tell your sisters I’m proud to have been part of them all! Turn around, love. Turn around! Good girl!”

How She Died: Kidnapped by Neolution, shot and burned so her DNA is destroyed.

Why Her Last Words Were So Great: One of the few characters not played by Tatiana Maslany, Kendall has played a key part on Orphan Black even before her introduction in Season 3. Mostly seen as Mrs. S’s tough as nails mother, her final moment is a turning in the series. For the first time it looks like Sarah and her sisters have met their match, and hope is but a fond memory for our favorite clones. Kendall is an OG DNA source, and her death means the death of all those who were replicated after her.

Cosima’s presence in the scene makes it all more heart wrenching because Kendall’s loss means a cure is lost, so Cosima essentially faces her own mortality. It’s an emotional scene that’s exacerbated by Kendall’s final words, the kindest and most loving we’ve ever heard her speak. The fact that she cares more about the effect this moment will have on Cosima, shows exactly the type of person she was and all the potential we lose with her. Of course there’s comfort in the fact that Kendall’s genes live on in each and every clone: “Just one, I’m a few, no family too, who am I?”
